Sophy Crane is a Sydney based camera operator, assistant camera, and underwater camera assist. She began her career in the UK on the world tennis tour, working as a remote camera operator and assist, before specialising in wildlife, adventure and observational documentary here in Australia.
She has since worked with the BBC Natural History Unit as a shooter/producer and worked with both Australian and British companies (CJZ, SeaLight Pictures, Endemolshine, Big Wave TV) across major documentary projects like ‘Secrets of the Octopus’ for Disney+, and travel and adventure programs for Love Nature, Channel 9, and Channel 10.
Sophy shoots and assists across the Sony FX6, FX9 range as well as Canon C300/C500. She is always willing to help out on location, is physically strong and fit and very easy to work with. She is a natural with talent and has an eye for story.
She has a NSW working with children’s check, is NSW RFS Media trained, full driver’s license, owns a car, and has a Sony FS7 and various accessories including GoPros and microphones. She also holds a PADI Divemaster qualification and occupational dive medical, so can assist and light underwater.
